📋Overview
Bowen's disease, also termed squamous cell carcinoma in situ, is a condition where malignant cells are present only in the outermost layer of the skin. Because these cells have not invaded deeper tissues, the condition is considered a non-invasive or early stage of cutaneous malignancy.
This condition is often classified as a precancerous lesion due to its potential to progress into invasive squamous cell carcinoma if it remains untreated. In this state, the abnormal growth remains limited to the site of origin and has not yet penetrated the deeper dermal layers.
