๐Overview
This condition, frequently referred to as fifth disease, typically manifests as a mild illness that begins with non-specific symptoms such as a low-grade fever or headache. It is most recognized by a bright red rash on the cheeks, which often develops after these initial systemic symptoms have started to resolve.
Although primarily associated with school-aged children, the infection can occur in individuals of any age and is characterized by its distinct cutaneous presentation. The virus typically spreads through respiratory droplets, and the clinical appearance of the rash usually indicates that the period of peak contagiousness has passed.
