Fitz Hugh Curtis Syndrome
📋Overview
Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome is a complication of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) characterized by inflammation of the liver capsule (perihepatitis) without involvement of the liver tissue itself. It is considered a sequela of ascending genital tract infections, most commonly caused by sexually transmitted bacteria such as Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The syndrome presents with right upper abdominal pain and may mimic other causes of liver or gallbladder disease.
