This condition occurs when the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which provides sensation to the surface of the outer thigh, becomes compressed or irritated. This compression typically results in localized numbness, tingling, or a burning sensation in the outer thigh area. Common causes include wearing tight clothing, obesity, pregnancy, or local injury to the hip area.
