๐Overview
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder primarily affecting movement. It is characterized by the loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the brain region called the substantia nigra. Parkinson's disease is the preferred modern term; older or synonymous terms include idiopathic parkinsonism or paralysis agitans. The condition leads to motor symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia, as well as non-motor symptoms.
