๐Overview
Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) is a legacy term commonly used to describe disorders affecting blood vessels outside the heart and brain, primarily involving narrowing or blockage of arteries supplying the limbs. The modern preferred term is Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), which specifically refers to atherosclerotic narrowing of peripheral arteries, most often in the legs. PVD/PAD leads to reduced blood flow causing symptoms and complications related to limb ischemia.
