Pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease characterized by abnormal growth of smooth muscle-like cells (LAM cells) that leads to cystic lung destruction. It primarily affects women of childbearing age and is considered a low-grade neoplasm. LAM can occur sporadically or in association with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC).
