Roseola, also known as exanthem subitum or sixth disease, is a common viral infection primarily affecting young children. It is characterized by a sudden high fever followed by a distinctive rash as the fever subsides. The condition is most often caused by human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and sometimes human herpesvirus 7 (HHV-7).
