Salivary gland infection, also known as sialadenitis, refers to inflammation and infection of one or more of the salivary glands. It is most commonly caused by bacterial infections but can also be viral. The condition affects the major salivary glands, primarily the parotid and submandibular glands. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are important to prevent complications.
